Mary O'Neill

Business Manager
With us since: July 2002
From finance to human resources and facility management, my work focuses on the full spectrum of Atomic Object’s business operations. Before joining AO, I researched and designed great workplaces for Herman Miller.

I represent AO within the Wealthy Street Business Alliance. In parallel, I have served on the Uptown Forward team, which has successfully established the City of Grand Rapids’ first CID (Corridor Improvement District). The CID will provide funds for investment in ongoing infrastructure improvements and spur economic growth within the Grand Rapids Uptown neighborhood.

With my guidance, AO’s HQ, in its historic building, continues to support the company’s growth, evolving from its early state as a scary old building to being a great workplace everyday.

I graduated from Purdue University in 1984 with a BA in Commercial Interior Design and I count myself among the ranks of the US Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals.

In my free time I like to explore what being a locavore is all about. I’m passionate about artisan bread baking and my daughter claims I enjoy collecting amber.

One of my all time favorite books is:
The Ice Palace That Melted Away: Restoring Civility and Other Lost Virtues to Everyday Life
by Bill Stumpf
