Can Atomic Object seriously claim to value diversity?

As enrollment in computer science programs in developed countries has declined, enrollment by women and minorities has declined even faster. As a consequence, diversifying on gender or race is particularly difficult in software development. For instance, despite our targeted efforts, as of early 2007, the only woman in our office (not shown in our group picture) is our office manager.

Diversity at Atomic Object

Diversity has many dimensions. Age, gender, race, nationality, education, work experience, thought-process, and family background are a few we think of when we evaluate diversity.

From dairy farmers to doctors to teachers and factory workers, our family backgrounds are quite diverse. This lends us a strength of perspective when we work in the diverse domains of our clients, and as we develop and refine our own internal policies.

Despite our youthful look, our oldest Atoms are easily old enough to be the parents of our apprentices.

Our educational backgrounds range from some college through masters and doctoral degrees, in a variety of subjects.

Our collective work experience includes universities, factories, start-ups, multinational, and governmental agencies.

Conclusion

We find advantage in diversity every day we work together. Diversity is something we actively consider and seek when we’re looking for passionate software craftspeople to join us.

We welcome applications from anybody who shares our passion for software excellence regardless of any other aspect of their being.
