BitCamp is a day-long opportunity for middle school students to learn about the Information Technology industry and the Software Development profession.
Carl Erickson, Atomic Object president and former university professor, presents short lectures and exercises on basic principles. In a fun and supportive small-group, hands-on environment, Carl and AO staff guide BitCampers through building a web-based application that can be shared with friends and family.
The goals of BitCamp are to teach fundamental IT concepts, dispel myths about software development, and share the fun and challenges of the profession we practice. No programming experience is assumed or required. The emphasis is on learning by doing.
Why? Because Information Technology and Software Development are fun and important
We love what we do and enjoying sharing it with bright young people. Hopefully we can help reverse the sharply declining university enrollments in IT & technical programs.
