Atomic publishes in-depth historical research on the building it occupies and neighborhood in which it does business.
January 5, 2009
Grand Rapids, Michigan – Today Atomic Object made available a comprehensive history of its building and the surrounding neighborhood.
View Our Historic Building to read the finished research and take in the accompanying historical photos.
In 1916 the Helmus Brothers built 941 Wealthy Street SE to house both their packing, storage, and moving business as well as the Station C Post Office. Nearly ninety years and a host of occupants later, Beero Partners (a real estate partnership including two of Atomic Object’s principals) purchased the historic property in 2003. Restoration, build out work, and eventually awards followed.
Atomic prides itself on being an active participant in its community. It tends to attract employees of a similar mindset. And so it was that one Atom took it upon himself to compile a history of Atomic Object’s building, the family and business that built it, the architect, and the surrounding Wealthy Street neighborhood. Out of personal interest Mike Karlesky performed the historical research necessary to tell the property’s story. In turn, he made it available to Atomic Object to publish via its website.
