Atomic makes available its tools for Test-Driven Development in embedded system software.
October 28, 2008
Grand Rapids, Michigan – Atomic Object today made publicly available a new set of freely available open source developer tools.
Having taken on the challenge of extending Agile methods into embedded software development, AO has created two tools to automate and significantly increase the pace of Test-Driven Development for embedded systems:
- Unity – Unit Test Framework for C
A lightweight xUnit-style framework that possesses special features for embedded system development. - CMock – An Automated Mock Object Generator for C
A Mock object code generator for interaction-based unit testing in C.
These tools were initially developed for internal use in specific client projects and evolved over time to offer functionality suitable for use in any embedded project (or in any C project). Atomic Object’s colleague Mark Vander Voord at X-Rite made significant contributions to this effort.
The tools are available at the links above under the MIT License.
Atomic’s Software Commons page lists all AO’s released tools.
