Atomic Object announces the first BitCamp for middle school students
January 5, 2006
Grand Rapids, MI – Middle school students (12-14 years old) will work with Atomic Object developers on a soup-to-nuts web application. A general orientation and some education on basic IT principles, along with hands-on development in a friendly pair programming environment with world-class programmers will show both the challenges, fun, and satisfaction of IT work.
Atomic Object is concerned about the sharply declining enrollments in IT programs at the university level. In particular, enrollments by women have dropped precipitously in the last 5 years. We hope that by introducing middle school students to our craftsmanship approach to software development we’ll get more of them thinking about IT careers.
The first Bit Camp is Saturday, March 4, 2006, 9am – 4pm.
More information is available at the BitCamp page.
